A rare stone, Vivianite can be found deposited in various different countries which include Ukraine, Brazil, Bolivia, Germany, Australia, and the USA.

The stone was named in 1817 by Abraham Gottlob Werner and derives its name and meaning from the mineralogist who first discovered it, J G Vivian.

Sometimes occurring as transparent or translucent stone, Vivianite has a varying color scheme from dark green to dark blue.

Vivianite can often adopt a darker shade over time due to exposure to prolonged sunlight, this can sometimes even result in the stone turning black.
