Pamela Colman Smith’s beloved tarot artwork, created in 1909 under the direction of Arthur E. Waite, is now presented in a borderless format for a more immersive reading experience.
The classic, as Pixie would have wanted it! This is the only deck of this series we sell because it gives Pamela Coleman Smith proper credit for her groundbreaking illustrations, which shaped the way we read Tarot today!
In 1909 artist Pamela Colman Smith’s involvement with the Order of the Golden Dawn led to a commission from Arthur Edward Waite to create a 78-card tarot deck. Originally known as the Rider deck, it was the first to include full pictorial scenes for the Minor Arcana pips. Pamela’s varied mystical influences are evident throughout the deck. Once considered revolutionary, The Rider-Waite® deck has set the standard for hundreds of other decks and has inspired a myriad of different versions available here.
The Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot Deck is a faithful reproduction of the original deck created by Pamela Colman Smith in 1909 under the direction of Arthur E. Waite. This classic tarot deck features full pictorial scenes in the muted colors chosen by “Pixie” herself.
